Buon Giorno-
We are planning a trip to a villa close to Cetona in Southern Tuscany in the Spring.....along with 1000's of questions we have Hot Springs come to mind....Any recommendations/critique---We are not looking for a Disney type place...We prefer a more Roman historic terme with an appreciation for the natural setting.

Thanks
CandideSF

I loved San Casciano. Pauline sent me great information about it before we went. She also has posted a full page of Hot Springs info. Here is the link:

The hot springs places I have on that web site page are all outdoors "rough" springs. Robert from Santa Monica reports that the San Filippo one no longer has hot water - it is being diverted to the spa. Of the natural ones, Bagno Vignoni is the easiest - you just put your feet in the water and San Casciano is fun - an outdoor pool outside of town. You change into your bathing suit in the bushes.

For the real spas - where you go in and have a changing room and bath in a pool with the natural hot springs water - I would consider San Casciano (a modern spa with massage and other treatments available - our friends spent a day there and liked it - I will post the writeup of their experience) or Bagno Vignoni (Zak says it is fun to go their at sunset and be in the pool looking at the view - but Bob the Navigator posted recently that the spa is closed because of lake of water).
