Hi,
I'm getting married in Rome in October. The wedding and photo's etc will be finished with by around 2pm but we will not be having our wedding meal till about 8 that night. I would like to keep the wedding group together (about 35 people) in the mean time. I was wondering if anyone could recommend excursions/activities/trips etc that might keep us together for a few hours before the party starts!!!!!!!!!

There have been previous discussions like this one on boat trips in Rome. Perhaps you could rent a private boat for your party or find a commercial boat you could all take together.

I'd normally never in a million years suggest it, every bone in my body is against it, but there are always exceptions: this is where you want a top-level guide to tour your party around Rome, preferably something theme-oriented; maybe places associated with great love affairs: I can think of several possibilities, though some might be inauspicious.

Thanks Guy's, good idea's, thanks for taking the time to reply.

It'll our first time in Italy, some of the group will be there for only a few days, others for a week so trying to decide on something that will appeal to all is the problem.

Keep 'em coming.

We have a list of tour guides on the site:
Slow Travel Italy - Tour Guides

And if you search the board you will come up with a list.

That was a good suggestion Bill! A nice organized walk through some interesting areas would be a good way to spend the afternoon.

There is a tour company we used to tour the Forum a few years ago which we liked very much. Through Eternity. They are light hearted, friendly and very knowledgable. They have a tour around Rome by horse drawn carriage and other various excursions which might fit the time frame you're looking for. Congratulations on your up coming marriage. Happy

Six hours is an awfully long time to keep a group that large together. I can't imagine that some won't want to nap, shower, change clothes, visit something of particular interest to them, etc. What about an evening tour/boat ride starting about 6 that ends at the location of your dinner?

I like Calllies idea of the afternoon break and then meeting again a couple of hours before the meal.
I know as a guest I would appreciate the time to do just as she says. If the wedding should be over by 2:00 that means it must have started at least an hour or so prior...factor in the time to shower, get ready and travel to the wedding site and a dinner that starts around 8.00........this could make for one long day.
I vote for the break!!! Thumbs Up

Congratulations........Hope your day is magical.
