Hello!
Just wondering if anyone has a recommendation for a wedding photographer in Italy. We are getting married in Sept. 2006 and would like to find someone that could travel to Tuscany.
Many thanks!

I can recommend one in Poggibonsi (near Siena). He did an amazing and inexpensive job for my cousine's wedding.

I just sent you a private message about our experience at my daughters wedding in Tuscany and our incredible photographer. Sent it privately so these poor fellow SlowTravelers don't have to hear over and over again about our experience!!!

Gloria, does the Siena photographer that you have noted above have an email and website?
Thank you!

They did the best work I have ever seen. Not too traditional, very natural. great, honestly.

Stefano Nannuci photographed our wedding - pics can be seen at http://www.sockmonkey75.blogspot.com (May/June archive) as well as at http://www.italyweddings.com/couples/cridan.html

Stefano's website is a little outdated, but you can check it out at http://www.florencephotographer.com

He was great to work with! Not pushy whatsoever, very relaxed - perfect!

Cheers,
Crissy

Stefano also photographed our wedding in Pienza in September 2002. I would agree that he is not pushy, very professional and patient, and we have such beautiful photos--not posed and artificial. Sorry I do not have any digital ones to post for you all to see!

Crissy--we also returned to Tuscany for our first anniversary. It was so nice to revisit the area without a wedding dress or family(God bless them) in tow!

I'm so excited to be going back! We might even meet up with Stefano to go out and take some photographs together (I'm an artist/photographer myself) - so that would be neat. I'm sure he knows of some really great places to go.

As for returning without my dress or relatives - well, I'd gladly take my dress again (it was easy to travel with!) - and as for relatives - well, we only had 3 with us! The other 8 guests were our close friends - so we were thrilled to be in Italy with them. We were sad when we parted ways! Smile

Did you hire a wedding planner in Italy? Or are you one of those brave souls who tried to organize everything herself?! Smile

Hello Totuscany!

Long time but I think we've both been busy with the holidays and wedding planning.

During our impromptu visit to Rome and Cortona this past Christmas, we met with three wedding photographers- Domenico Costabile, Camera Chiara and Julian Bower. (Stefano Nanucci said he is already booked for our wedding day.)

They were all very good, but I decided to go with Domenico. He drove to Cortona to meet us, was on time, very nice and unassuming. His only drawback is that because he has the albums handmade by a Florentine papermaker, he doesn't have any examples of them.
Camera Chiara and Julian Bower also drove to our relais and met us there. Camera Chiara is a married couple who have been doing this for quite some time. They had loads of albums to show us. My fiancee liked them alot and wanted to use them but I like Domenico better - and I have veto power!
Julian Bower is a British guy who is now living in Italy. Because he was already engaged for our wedding day, one of his partners would have taken our pictures. But the other guy just sat there chewing gum and not saying much...we didn't feel too confident with him.
I also contacted Carlo and Angelo of weddingphotos.it but 1. they were much more expensive than the others 2. they wouldn't drive to meet with us at our relais or anywhere closer to us. To me, this said alot about them. Since we are the customers and also since we don't know the roads very well, they should have taken the time to come see us. All of the others did. So we nixed them off the list.

Hope this helps and let me know how you're doing with all the planning!

Julie

Hello Everyone!
This is all great feedback. I ended up going with Stefano. He seems just great. So nice and willing to help. Luckily he was free on our wedding day. He just had a huge spread in Modern Bride, so he will be one busy guy I am sure. THanks to all of you for your input!

Stefano shot our wedding last May - he was really great to work with. I think you'll be very happy that you chose him to document your wedding day. Smile

What issue of Modern Bride is his work in?? He was also just in a wedding magazine here in Canada - http://www.realweddings.ca (article: A Beautiful Light).

Good luck with everything!!

Cheers,
Crissy

Hi Julie Kim

I was wondering whether you had got married yet? And if you have, what did you think of Domenico Costabile? We too have chosen him to do our wedding photos but any feedback before we sign the contract would be gratefully received!!!

Thanks

Hi there!
We get married in two weeks!
We picked Stefano Nannucci and he is unbelieveable. We had some engagement pictures taken with him and he did a fabulous job.

The best advice I can give you is go with your gut re: relationship you have with him and whether you feel he suits what you are looking for. I would ask him for a portfolio of people he has taken and ask them their thoughts.

Good luck!!
Shannon.

We used Stefano Nanucci for our wedding as well, and he was a real pleasure to work with. And his rates were quite reasonable, as compared to some other photographers in the area. Stefano is a wonderful photographer.

Cheers,
Crissy
