Hello! I'm looking for some advice. I'm renting a villa w/ 4 other girls just outside
Settignano for 1 week (then on to someplace in the Tuscany countryside for a few days - I THINK, it keeps changing)

The agency (Tuscany Now - Il Verone) says its within walking distance of the property, an inclined 1km/0.5 miles. None of us have any mobility issues. The question: Should we rent a car? I know there is a convenient bus line in Settignano that goes into Florence. But I'm wondering about evenings out/weather, etc. Think a car might be necessary? It's awfully expensive! So before I commit, I'd like some feedback!

Maybe an option would be to rent a car after we get there, if we need it. But not sure of the pittfalls that might involve.

Thanks in advance for the advice.

YOu will already be in the country side outside of Settignano. How do you plan on getting to the villa with all of your luggage?

YOu could rent a car at happyrent in Florence for a few days instead fo the whole week.

Unless you plan on just vegging out in the backyard of you villa I think that you will need a car. or some type of private transport. If you take a taxi from florence to Settignano it will be very expensive. I don't know what bus goes to Settignano.

I agree that a car will really add to your potential options. Shop around , you may find a less expensive option.

AUTOEUROPE is having a 15% off sale now. You can book and then if you change your mind, cancel with a full refund.

You are splitting the cost between 4 people - it will be well worth it to have a car. There are many wonderful places to explore in the countryside.

Here are some pages to read on the site (if you haven't already):

Thanks all. I think we're going w/ a car (plus we'll need one anyway the next week). I checked into Avis and found some good rates and we'll definately look at the 15% off sale!

Smile Thanks!
