I was so amused by Earline's joke, I wrote her a response, and she jumped right back with another. We thought we'd share:

Palma Sings the "Palm Desert Shopping Blues"

Woke up this mornin’ feelin’ old, fat and broke
Woke up this mornin’ feelin’ old, fat and broke
Filled my mug with stale coffee, and went out for a smoke.
Still felt depressed, and bored, life seemed so stale
I got in my old Sebring, gunned it to a Nordie’s sale!

Walked straight in to “Handbags”, saw a great half-price Furla
A mean fat chick grabbed it, she was so UGLY, girl, ugh!
Walked up to her face, said, “That there bag is MINE, hon!”
She clutched it to her big bosom, this weren’t gonna be fun…

Said, “It takes a HUGE broad to carry off that big purse.
I’m much too cute and small, so on me it'd be worse.”
“I’d rather spend my hard-earned cash on all those half-priced shoes;
I think I’ll buy me some of them, then drown myself in booze.”

I took off runnin’ down the aisle, that fat girl, she was sore,
A salesgirl stopped her at the door, threw her outta the store!
I was watchin’ on my knees behind the Lancome makeup case.
I got up, brushed my jeans skirt off, and kept a real straight face.

Went back and bought that blasted purse, I earned it sure as hell!
Then stopped back in cosmetics for some samples of Chanel.
I was so tired after that, I needed some caffeine.
With my latte in a Starbucks, wrote my blues song for Earline!
Happy

Earline Sings Back:

I woke up this mornin’ and the rain be pourin’ down.
Yeah, I woke up this mornin’ and the rain be pourin’ down.
I turn on my laptop and the dang thing musta drowned.
Windows ain’t workin’ and the network it be for ****.
No, Windows ain’t workin’ and the network it be for ****.
I grab me a decaf green tea
Turn on the PC to read a bit.

I read me a blues song from Palma dedicated to Errrrrleeeen
Yeah, I read me a blues song from Palma dedicated to Errrrrleeeen.
It made me laugh spittin’ out my tea
All over my desk so clean.
That Palma be a funny bitch she know how to inspire.
Yeah, that Palma be a funny bitch she know how to inspire.
To hell with fixin’ this myself
I’m callin’ the network guy!

Just saw this and wow, what can I say?
Kudos to you both Shannon April Fool Shannon
Guess there's a reason some of us write and some of us read, but only a few do both really well!

Palma, is all this praise going to your head? I know it is to mine! I'm glad we can put a spark in the lives of others.

Of course, now I have been commissioned to write a song for our Southeastern US STers GTG in Nashville in October. Ah, the life of the rich and famous. Well, maybe not rich, and also possibly not famous -- but you get the idea!

I agree with Diana that we are "ill" in a happy and good way! Are you suggesting a song is in order for the Desert GTG?

Only if it is a duet! Note Shannon Note
