Luigi and Anna had been married for 58 years. Anna became ill, and Luigi stayed by her bedside. When the end was close, Anna whispered to Luigi, “After I go, look in the shoe box in my cupboard.”
Luigi was beside himself with grief, but a few days after Anna’s funeral, he remembered the shoe box and looked where Anna said it would be. He carefully opened the box. Inside were two folded pieces of Anna’s stationary and two beautiful hand made dolls. He opened the first note. It said, “Before we married, my mama told me to make a doll if I was ever angry at my husband.”
Luigi looked at the two beautiful dolls. He began to cry and said, “In 58 years, my wonderful Anna was only angry with me twice! Che bella moglia!"(What a wonderful wife).
Luigi opened the second note. It said, “The 89,000 Euro I made from selling the dolls is in the bank!”
