Once again I find it easiest to tell a story from my past.
My family moved to Umbria when I was going on 14. We started visiting the main towns of the region. We went to Todi and I was the navigator, with a brochure open with maps of the Umbrian towns. As we approached the town, my father asked me what this grand domed structure was. I looked at the map and said "Palazzo Collicola." He said "Palazzo Coki-Cola?! So it's the Coca-Cola factory!" I quickly saw that I was looking at the map of Spoleto on the facing page, and here in Todi this was the church of S. Maria della Consolazione. But I could never live that down; every time we saw a domed church like that, such as S. Maria degli Angeli, my parents said "There's Assisi's Coca-Cola factory!"
Only recently did I look up Palazzo Collicola in Spoleto and find that there's a modern art collection there, but I don't know which syllable is stressed.
Another thing we said in that era in Italy: Why are an art museum and a tunnel both called a galleria? Because they have the same amount of light.
When it comes to family, there are just some things you can never live down.
My sister was at my house today, and I got to tell some of our friends about the time I was driving somewhere with her, and she saw an out-of-state license plate on a car ahead of us. She said, "Speed up - I want to see what people from Wisconsin look like."
Congrats on your third star!
