I had a joke in mind, but someone else has used it. So I'll tell a story.

From this board, we find our fare share of "Lost in translation" cases, such as Web pages put together by people without good knowledge of the language they're supposed to be in. Some variation of that happens in libraries; there are lists that go around of interesting book titles that people have requested, such as Tequila Mockingbird. Here's something that happened to a colleague recently:

Student: "I have an assignment to laminate a short story. Can you help me with that?"

Librarian: "That's an interesting assignment, but it isn't something we usually get involved with at the library. If it's a general assignment for the class, I imagine the bookstore has a supply of plastic sheets that you can press together and use."

"But the teacher said to go to the library for help."

"Can I see the assignment?"

The assignment was to annotate a short story.

Good story, Andrew!

There is a bit of a difference between the two words and actions, isn't there? Wink Grin

Congratulations on your 1000th post and your second star! Star Star

Congratulations on reaching "1000." Your story reminds me of several lines from Twelfth Night. Olivia asks her very drunk uncle how he has come "so early by this lethargy," and he responds "Lechery! I defy lechery." Love it.
