When I was at 100, we didn't have this forum and the search wasn't working; I understood that we were to report an experience with some humor more than a joke, so that's what I did. I'm not too big on jokes, but I heard this one, which isn't that special, so I'll do it for number 750; I don't know when I'll get to 1000.

I also learned rather recently about la scarpetta, discussed here in the early days of Slowtalk, the term used for scraping up the last of the sauce with a morsel of bread. The term, meaning "little shoe," is also used for Cinderella's glass sliipper. So:

Cenerentola mangia una grande cena al castello. Allo scoccare della mezzanotte, sa che deve partire e, scendendo le scale in gran fretta, perde la scarpetta. Il principe corre dietro di lei gridando "Cenerentola, la scarpetta!" Lei risponde "No, grazie, ho già mangiato abbastanza!"

Can you imagine if you tried to tell this joke in English to your co-workers without the la scarpetta set-up? I wonder how many would give you a polite "Ha-ha" anyway.
