It seems odd to me that a travel professional, supposedly an "expert" on Rome, would tell people to buy a Trenitalia ticket to Rome vs. the BIRG. At the very least I would expect them to point out the option and demonstrate both a more thorough knowledge of their subject and a genuine concern for their potential clients.
