Hi Ginger! Please say hello to your son for Thom and me. We sat together for dinner (with Kendall) in Savannah!
I've not participated in CRC book club discussions. I'm EST and will still be at my office at the time of the discussion. Is the discussion posted somewhere so I could catch it later?

Hi, joywriter, And you also sat with my son, Michael! Did you see the photos that I posted of your table with everyone sitting around it and the orbs hovering around all of you? I'll add it in at the end of this post...orbs, orbs all over the place! There's one sitting on the table right in front of your left hand, and another cluster of them hovering around the back of Michael's chair. Very cool.
Welcome to our book club forum! Our monthly meeting is on the 3rd Sunday of each month at 2:00 P.M. MST/4:00 EST...are you still at work at that time? I'd love it if you could join us!
I will be editing the book chat discussion and posting the transcript here each month for everyone to share, so even if you miss the discussion, you can read about our book chat each month. Wish you could be with us for the chat...
Let me know if you are reading this month's book, The Book of Negroes, because you can participate on the thread about that specific book. You are exactly the reason we wanted to have an on-line forum for book chat! You are someone who reads and would love to participate in the monthly chat, but the book chat schedule just doesn't fit for you. So, please stop by and participate in the on-going discussion about the book of the month!

HAPPY NEW YEAR BRENDA! Yes we sure did view those orb-filled photos from Savannah! I'd never really seen any before but those were as real as real can be. You do know of course that the place's history included being a funeral parlor at some time? Fascinating stuff! I won't be able to actually join the discussion but I am reading the book and may be able to pop in briefly ... and really participate afterwards. Sounds like a great idea. Please send our regards to Michael and wish him well and a very happy 2009!

Those orbs were amazing, weren't they? I'd never heard of orbs until Omer, out tour guide, told us to look for them in our photos. I thought he was having us on, then I sneakily turned on my camera to view the last few photos I'd taken and voila! There they were...orbs! I whispered about them to a few ST'ers on the bus, and the next thing we knew, there were orbs in several images we'd just taken.
THEN, we found a lot of orbs in those photos taken in The Mansion dining room. That was amazing, considering it had been a funeral home in another life, and the room where we ate dinner was the casket display room where dear departed ones were 'laid out' on display for their family and friends.
Please stop by when you can and join in our discussions here on this forum. I'm so happy that we have our own forum for people like you who cannot make it to book chat when it is at a specifed time and date. If you get a moment to drop by in chat, we'll be delighted to welcome you there, also!
I'll happily send your wishes on to Michael for you! He's thinking about coming to Savannah for a few days when we are there in March, so hopefully, fingers crossed. I miss my kid...
"Upon finishing this book, I felt I had an entirely knew understanding of the level of barbarity that encompassed the kidnapping and enslavements of Africans by fellow Africans and Europeans. This well written work is as informative as a history book, but as readable as the novel it is. The characters are rich and Aminata, the heroine, is someone I wish I could've sat down and had a cup of tea with--a true storyteller. I appreciated the author's ability to make many of the characters multidimensional." ~ Review from lkdigi on Library Thing Brenda
