I am going to stop into a Belgian ale house over the weekend and would like to wish the owner a Happy New Year and other good things - what would you say? sil vous plait..

Merci!

Maybe you've already found out, but for the Francophones it would be "Bonne Année", and for the Flemish speakers "Gelukkig Nieuwjaar".

Thanks Patrick - I think I'll stick with "Bonne Année."
"Gelukkig Nieuwjaar" might be too much of a challenge, especially after a few Belgian ales! Smile Martini
