We are considering a 3 week stay in Paris, studying for at least 2 weeks at either Accord or Alliance Francaise. Each school offers a 9 hour program, three hours on three different days. Has anyone done this? Any advice? Any preference for schools? I have studied as an adult but not for some time. My vocaulary is fairly good. My husband would be a beginner, although had some French when young and speaks good Spanish.

I've taken classes from Alliance Francais branch in Seattle. They are very good. My recent classes this summer were for 2 hours 3 days a week (semi-intensive). In 6 weeks, we were able to just make it to passe compose in the beginning course. You might want to drop into a couple of the classes in the Chicago area.

Sue, hubby and I are planning the same thing for next Sept. except we'll be staying for a whole month. Where will you be staying? apartment?

Thanks for the replies. If we do this we will rent an apartment. We are debating between this adventure and another one in Italy, seeing areas we have not visited. But that is another topic entirely. I didn't know about the other Paris schools mentioned...I will check them out.

I've taken classes at the Alliance Francaise in Chicago. They're good and they have cultural events too. It's a good way to brush up before you go, even if you decide to do a course in Paris.

I too have taken adult ed. French courses at New Trier HS extension. If we decide to do this I will go back to my old teacher there.
