I'd like to switch to a sustainable hosting company for my website, but I don't know any based in Italy, most of them are based in the US... could anybody suggest a reliable one?

I use Microsoft, a company that should be around for a while. If you use their Basics program you get the sitename and the hosting for free. A good deal.

Sorry I was not clear... By sustainable I mean a company that cares for the environment and uses renewable energy for their offices and machines, paperfree offices, etc.

It was a new term for me also. I did a little googling and here are a couple of search results if other members are interested in the concept.

Sustainable web hosting
Green web hosting

Many of the server centers are served by renewable energy sources such as wind or solar. I did see a few others who purchased carbon exchanges to become carbon neutral.

I did find one list of providers which might help you narrow down the search. You may also be able to find a provider in the UK. I'm not familiar with any of them so I don't have a recommendation but maybe someone else in our community does.

Hi Giulia!

I found this one:

Earth Tones.

I found it on a website/newsletter I have subscribed to for the past few months, Idealbite.com, which I think you might enjoy browsing through as well.

Here is the tip on having a "green office," there are a a few more suggestions on that page.

Good luck!
