Hi all

I have a tri-band GSM phone, and will be in Israel for a week. I assume that the simplest thing to do is buy an Israeli SIM card for my phone. Both Cellular Abroad and Telestial sell them.

Any advice here?

Marian, have you looked at the Israel page on Prepaidgsm.net?

Do you know what your third gsm frequency is? 1800? or 900? Orange(Partner Communications) operates on 900 & 1800 and Cellcom Israel operates on only 1800.

Do you know which network(s) Celluar Abroad and Telestial use in Israel?

Bill

Thanks Bill ---

I just looked at that page, but the info for each provider is out of date by a couple of years.

Anyway ---- both Telestial and Cellular Abroad SIMs operate with Cellcom. I think I can probably get more information from friends this weekend (and if I'm lucky, maybe even a SIM card for Israel....)

Edited to add: My phone is actually a nearly two-year old quad-band, Motorola V547 (850, 900, 1800, 1900)

Closing the loop here. I just bought a Cellcom SIM card on Ebay.

Another step toward being ready!
