I decided that my life just wasn't complicated enough, so I bought a new laptop with Vista OS on it. For some strange reason, even with added Network Magic software, the techie guy was unable to set up a network between the laptop and the PC. Oh joy! Of course, half my software now is incompatible with Vista. Oh joy!
One of them being PowerDesk Pro, a file management utility that I have used for several years. I contacted them and they said that it is definitely incompatible and didn't offer any suggestions. Sounds like they're calling it quits and going out of business.
I now have to use Windows Explorer. I absolutely hate it. That's one of the reasons I went over to PowerDesk. Now I have no choice. I have to learn it. Or ... . . . get a new utility program.
Does anybody have any recommendations? In the meantime, could anybody tell me how to search for files on Windows Explorer? It's about to drive me nuts!
Windows Explorer in XP has a "search" function at the menu bar at the top of the page. Does Vista not have a "Search" or "Find" feature prominently positioned on whatever page opens when you start the program? If not, I would go to the "Help" function and type in "search"
You can search most everywhere with Vista. That is one of its big features. It searches so much it drives me crazy.
Here is a good page on the different search options. Usually, in most Vista applications you will find a search box in the upper right corner. Look for the magnifying glass like icon in the upper right corner.
You can also do an instant search from the start menu.
