Just bought the garmin 1350 unit brand new to Canada. I am in Canada currently, not Rome so I cannot try it out.
I bought this unit due to its public transport capabilities when used with certain Citnav city explorer maps. I bought Rome yesterday. Put in pedestrian mode, with local locations, with this model the little icon has to be moved manually and also has No voice commands, I guess a feature Garmin added to not draw attention to the user. {I would much prefer a headphone jack.} But my questions are these:
1. Does the public transport work in Rome, Amsterdam, etc?
2. Do all the Garmin models have no voice commands while in pedestrian mode?
3. Does the pedestrian mode move automatically when you walk tracking your pace... or do you HAVE to move the icon manually with all models?
Thank you
PS I would appreciate any review or input from Anyone that has or has used this new model

Ok well, tested it out and intend on returning it for these 2 reasons.
1. Does NOT offer proximity alert ( that ding ding) sound the unit makes when you are about to turn or exit.
2. Used in pedestrian mode locally and the map is only a NORTH view which means if you are walking south east or west it is confusing at least to me.
Hopefully this info could help someone.
I would still like info on the above questions for other garmin units if anyone has it.
thankyou

Hi Brutis905,

I'm topping this hoping somone might be able to help you with your other questions on using a GPS. (Thanks for the feedback on the 1350) I do not have enough experience with a unit to answer your specific questions. Hopefully another member will know the answers.
