Hi Fellow Travelers! My husband and I are planning a 30 day trip through Europe next year. I have had a gastric bypass and need to use protein supplements. What is the best method to assure they pass through airport and train security? Chicken Dance

If liquid, declare it separately as a medical necessity or pack in checked bag (TSA info here:
http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/specialneeds/index.shtm);

If solid, do nothing out of the ordinary.

I packed protein powder in individual snack-sized ziplocs for my trip to Italy. Then all the bags plus my single-serve Crystal Light packets went into a bigger ziploc. On the way over, it was in my checked luggage; coming back, in my carry-on. I had no problems. If any eyebrows had been raised at the unmarked whitish powder, a smell and a taste would probably have sufficed.

If you're using protein powder, unjury.com sells individual labeled packets. I'm just too cheap to buy them, and too pressed for space to pack the large labeled bottle!

Well you could take a small container with you and buy more when you arrive.

Protein supplments come in different flavours etc so I'm not sure a taste test would be enough.
