I've been lurking on this site for a long time, and it seems like an amazing resource. I am planning a trip to Spain and Italy (and maybe Germany as well) this summer and would love advice about all kinds of things. Also, it would be great to meet up with some slow travelers in some of those places.

My husband and I are professors who are nearing (early) retirement. I have been a traveler since I was a child and lived in Germany with my parents. We took off every school vacation I had and by the time I was twelve I'd been to 17 countries. Since then, I haven't traveled nearly as much as I would like, but my husband and I have been to Italy several times. We're looking forward to a lot more traveling.

Welcome NOLA,
You're right, this is an "amazing resource."
Lucky you to grow up traveling. What a great experience! Do you have clear memories of traveling as a child? Any favorite stories?
Have fun with your travels and on the site!

Hello Nola!
Welcome. We travel with our daughter, alot!!! I always wonder what the long-term impact will be. She's five now. Her next flight will be #200. She's spent 28 weeks in Italy and traveled to Canada, Mexico, Fiji, England, Spain, France, Germany, and the Netherlands. Everyone said our passion for travel would be quenched when we had our baby, but we're old parents and have found traveling with a little person is even more fun than traveling as a couple. Especially in Italy!
Cheers!
Betsy
