I am excited to find this website! I am interested in just about anywhere, some places more than others. My spouse and I are recently retired. Our main topic of conversation is where can we go with economy in mind. Ever since I got a degree in geography from Cal State Chico and units on Australia, I have wanted to see her for myself. We have friends who went to Australia 20 years ago, bought a car, traveled all over, stayed wherever they found themselves, sold the car and came home. That is my ultimate dream but I would love to hear from anyone who traveled to Australia, Perth in particular. Australian dairy farming and farming in general would be interesting to the husband. I hope I have left it wide open enough to get a lot of talk! Thanks

Welcome to Slow Travel, Jan, one more addition to the many Californians, members of this board.

Discussions on Australia are hosted in The Rest of the World Forum but, of course, you are most welcome to participate in any other topics and forums of interest to you. We have a number of members from Perth itself, for example. Place your questions in The Rest of the World forum and I am sure this will be an auspicious start.

Hi Jan and welcome to ST.

I live 1hr south west from Perth, in the Peel region which is predominately dairy industry and only 15 minutes from the beautiful seaside town of Mandurah.

We have also travelled the rest of Australia by car and caravan, quite extensively for the past 38 years.

You will receive plenty of advice from fellow Australians and other travellers, I'm sure.

Hi Jan and Welcome!

I grew up in Central CA (Stockton) and I've been to Perth. We went in September 2006 to see the wildflowers. It is a lovely country and we'd love to go back. BTW, I have pictures of our trip in the link to my photos in my signature. Feel free to take a look around at the areas we visited.

Drop on by the Rest of the World forum if you have any specific questions on Australia.

Hi Jan
Another Australian welcome. I have lived and travelled all over Australia and now live in a seaside town not far from Melbourne and close to the start of the Great Ocean Road.
I look forward to helping you plan a trip to Australia.
You will find everyone very helpful whatever your question.

You will love Slowtrav - I am addicted to it!
