We are so fortunate to have found this website. It's been nothing but wonderful to read all the trip reports and posts. About us, we're in San Diego and heading to Lake Como on 12 September 2007. We stay there for a few days then to Tuscany. After that, two weeks in Rome. Can't wait! Hoping to meet up with fellow Slow Travelers on our trip.

Excited!
Jennifer & Brian

Funny you should ask.... Smile We're trying to find an agriturismo to stay in- southern Tuscany. So far we'd like to stay in Le Macchie, Cretaiole, Agrit. Il Rigo. We haven't heard back from the latter two yet.

Rome will be a blast- Sept 19-Oct4 for us. Are you going for anything special?

... one week in our Rome apartment in Trastevere was my prize (1st name drawn from Steve Cohen's hat) in the 2006 contest. The 2nd week was a half-price offer from Romepower.com, the agency that offered the prize. Our 2 adult sons are coming with us to Italy. We are planning on going to Capri for 2 days during our time in Rome.

Then we're flying back to Paris to show our sons around the city for a couple of days before they return to work back home in Canada.

My wife & I are going down to Provence for 10 days before we return home in the last week of September.

Anything special?

Like our other trips to Europe over the past few years (see my Trip Reports below), I hope the whole experience is special.

DOUG- Fantastic! What a wonderful time you and your family will have. We look forward to your trip report! And as you imply, it will ALL be special. Can't wait to get on the plane.

TRVLISFUN- We're in San Diego. My fiance is from San Clemente. How exciting to bring some of our peeps to Italy. Where will you be staying?

We are staying between Campo Dei Fiori and Piazza Navona (sp) in an apartment rented through Sleep in Italy.

best,
jennifer

We are practically neighbors with your fiance- we are in Laguna Niguel! We are celebrating our 25th anniversary with our very good friends who are also celebrating their 25th anniversary! We are staying at a hotel near the Spanish Steps.

Have you requested a Scavi tour? We still have not heard if we will get in and we applied months ago!

Re: agriturismos

All 3 look like excellent choices. Their location in the Val d'Orcia is great.

Have you considered Sant' Antonio? - also well reviewed on ST.

I would be getting just a bit concerned if you haven't got a reservation very soon.

Jennifer-

I have heard good things about IlRigo, heard the food is very good! We were originally going to stay there as well but changed to a place that has apartments with a washing machine near Siena since we will be there at the mid-point of our three week trip and thought that would work out better for us.
