Hi and thank you for the insight on how, when where, who, and why I am going back to Italy 39 years after I first threw a coin in the Trevi fountain. Yes, I was 12 years old but can remember Italy so much more than the rest of our trip to Europe back then. I am looking forward to picking through everyone's past experiences.
I am flying into Florence to meet up with family and from there will stay in Tuscany. From then on it's up in the air for now just where we will be going. Two weeks to get my feet wet. Will be there end of April.
Welcome I was much like you -- I went to Italy for the first time when I was 12 (albeit I stayed for 7 years but that's neither here nor there ) and it was 25 years before I went back to Italy. I found that when it came to "being back" in Italy, not too much had changed, and it truly didn't take long at all before it no longer felt like it had been 25 years (a quarter of a century!)
Thank you both for your replys. Tell you the truth I was reluctant at first to go traipsing off to Italy. Now the more I think about what a great time I had before I can't wait to get there. I must have the fever your speaking of. We'll anyway I got a look at your "Backside of Rome" Sandi and enjoyed it. There are many interesting finds to glean from every trip. Jim
