Hi,
I just discoved this site -yeah. I love traveling and without knowing it I guess I am becoming a slow traveler. I have two kids currently 2 and 7 yrs old and I just can't do the two days here, three days there type of trip anymore. Our daily life is so hectic that when it comes to a vacation I want to find one place to base ourselves for longer periods of time. Last summer we rented an apt. in Singapore for a month and only stayed in Singapore. We enjoyed ourselves, my kids made friends with the locals and all around it was a very nice time. However, this summer I am looking to Europe. I want to find a place to rent in a quiet area where we do not need a car and can simply have fun in the local area. I am looking for advice on a place that would work for my very active two year old boy and seven year old daughter. I am looking to go for about three weeks and unfortunately it will have to be in August. my husband would join us for one week and I would stay with the kids for another two weeks. Any suggestions would be great and we are not looking for a palace we get by nicely in modest accommodations.

Welcome! I'm sure you'll find heaps of inspiration on these pages. Do you have a preference for country? We all have our favourites - in the heat of August, I'd probably head to one of the Scandinavian countries or perhaps Netherlands, but then, I don't like the heat! What's always been your dream?

Welcome! (I'm new here too, this is my first post)
I recommend you Lake Starnberg, just South of Munich in Bavaria. It is the perfect place for relaxed family vacation. There is the Lake, the Alpes, lots of Culture (New Schwanstein Castle)and Munich. Even in August the beaches at the Lake are not too crowded. There are lots of activities you can do with kids as well. Bavaria is called the most Northern province of Italy because the people really enjoy life and the outdoors here and the weather is often very friendly because of the Fön (warm wind from the South). If you need more detailed information feel free to send me a private message, I live here.
