Greetings all,

It's so inspiring to be among so many impassioned travelers. Most recently I've lived in New Mexico, and am currently planning my first trip to Amsterdam for February! Iceland or Finland is next. ;-) I speak some French, and my dream is to live in a Francophone country for a while to boost my fluency.

I enjoy artsy things, meeting new and interesting people, and basically cultivating the art of curiosity.

Safe and magical travels to all,
LaVon

Bienvenu(e?), LaVon.
You live in the one city in the US that I most want to visit.
Amsterdam February?
You like to freeze or what.
Please do this for me: pig out on those spicy Indonesian fares that Amsterdam is so famous for, which will keep you warm too.
Better go to a coffee shop first and engage in an activity that will give you the munchies which will enable you to wolf down the 40 little dishes in front of you... Cool

I think Amsterdam is terrific ANY time of year!
Of course you'll need to dress warmly, but it's magical there when there's a dusting of snow on the cobbled streets.
Just spent a few hours there myself, on a long layover from Spain to DC. It's so easy and quick to get to the center from the airport, so I trained in and walked my favorite shopping streets and canals for a few hours before heading home.
Happy travels-
Anne

Thanks for all of the tips/and well wishes--I am looking forward to the Indonesian food (one cuisine I have yet to experience!).
