Hello! I am from the States (Kansas City) and I was visiting London a month ago and met someone. His name is Javier. I got his number to call him sometime because he travels quite a bit for his job (financial industry - hedge funds) and he has traveled to Wichita, Kansas for work before, which is not far from Kansas City.

However, now that I'm back in the states I can't figure out how to dial his cell phone number, which is 05555555555.

I know he is from Spain, but I think he resides in London. Not quite sure, though. I've looked up the country and city codes for both places and am not finding those numbers within the number he gave me.

Can anyone advise me on this? Or maybe there is someone who could do me a HUGE favor and call him for me?Smile

Just in case there IS someone really really nice out there who is willing to do this, my email address [] and I would love to pass this info along to Javier. I had to leave shortly after we met and I didn't think to give him my contact info.

Thank you!!
Christy

Christy, Javier's number looks like a UK cell phone number: as such, it doesn't have any city/area code (European cell phone numbers don't have these). But you'll still need to dial the country code, and leave out the initial zero. This last step is true for calling all UK numbers from abroad, landline or cell.

So it should work as: 011-44-555-555-5555.

Jonathan

Jonathan, I have another question you may be able to answer. Do you think I can send a text message to this number successfully from my US-based cell phone?

I don't see why not. I am in the UK and I received several text messages on my cell phone from friends in the States over Christmas. THey also received my replies OK.
