I am so glad to find this site. I am currently planning a 3 week trip to Italy and 1 other location in Europe (yet to be decided upon)and have gotten so much inspiration from people's stories and photos. I have traveled extensively in South America, but my travels in Europe have been hurried. In my 1 big trip to Europe was in 92 when I followed the Grateful Dead all over the continent. As I plan for this trip, I have been contemplating my past tarvel and really thinking about what are my most memorable experiences. What jumped out at me was getting stuck in tiny, muddy town in Nicaragua called Rama where I waited for a small banana cargo coat to take me to bluefields. What was it about this experience that it stands out for me? I had to stop moving and just wait. There is so much I want to see, that when I take a trip, I just want to do it all. But the reality is, less is more.

Welcome to Slow Travel! I am an avid Nicaragua fun so I am looking forward to sharing stories!
A belated welcome to you. Love your post and your attitude. Many young travellers follow the "Tender Is The Night" itinerary or "The Sun also Rises" itineray. The Dead tour? Quelle idée! I think you are on to something. May I ask to which cities they led you? In fact many bands tour a series of interesting summer festivals in interesting towns across Europe: Antibes/Juan, Montreux, ... A couple of years ago I saw the other mythical Bay Area band - Hot Tuna - down the street from chez moi, at the Olympia here in Paris. Enjoyed it thoroughly. Looking forward to your tour gossip...
