Hi,
My name is Sussan and I joined a few weeks ago now. I had been reading the board quite a bit in preparation for our trip to London,Paris,Milan,Venice,Tuscany,Rome,Naples and Capri at the end of September/October.

I am so appreciative of the advice and in awe of the experience that some of you have! I hope I can come back from our travels and share what we have seen and experienced.

I have really enjoyed also reading the past threads and noticing the frienships.

Sussan

Hello again Sussan. Smile

It's been lovely meeting up with you on the boards. I've been to Italy a few times recently at the time of year you are planning to go. It's a great time of year. The weather has been perfect for me, each time.

Hey, what kind of wines do you drink? Come and have a look at some of the Australian threads. We'd love to hear what you have to say there, as well. Gelato

Hi Sussan,

I also have been following your threads. My family of 5 spent 3 1/2 months travelling Italy and Europe last year.

This forum was a godsend for me and my planning and opinions varied on different topics, but in all, the experience that members have, is invaluable.

Hopefully you will also be able to contribute to our Australian questions when they arise.

Good luck with your planning and have a great time.

Elly

Hello Sussan and welcome to Slow Trav.

There's quite a contingent of Australians now and it's always fun and interesting to read the contributions from us far away Antipodeans who really, really know the meaning of JET LAG!!!!

Your trip in September sounds as if it will be fantastic - it's such a lovely time of year to go to Italy.

Thankyou all for the very warm welcome and best wishes for our upcoming adventure.

I flew to Dubai and Cairo earlier this year and came back thinking WOW we will be doing this but longer in September! At least the entertainment systems are better than what they used to be to keep kids/teenagers and even adults amused?!

Leslie,to answer your wine question. I am originally from WA so am very partial to the whites from Margaret River and even Mount Barker.

I also have a soft spot for New Zealand Sauv Blancs. I did sample a few Yarra Valley wines a few weeks ago and they were quite good.

Sussan,
This may be a bit late but we have just returned from 5 great weeks in Italy.

We also live in Melbourne (Mt Waverley) and would be happy to talk about our visit. I am not sure whether you can provide an email address on this site - perhaps the moderators can advise.

Hello Sussan
I lived in Richmond until 4 years ago and now live in Queenscliff. We returned a few weeks ago from a trip to New York, Ireland and Paris. We loved it all but particularly our 2 weeks on Ile St Louis.
In 2005 we spent 5 weeks in France and 2 in Italy in September / October and it is a great time to travel. You will have a wonderful time.
