I am arriving in Italy on July 7 for the move of a lifetime. My name is Giovanna and I am going for my Dual Citizenship and looking forward to full immersion in the Italian culture. I have been to Italy several times and really do enjoy almost everything about it. I am on a couple of forums like this and have meet some great people already. I am hoping to make friends with all of you as well.

Ciao Giovanna/Zingarella! I am also new to this board and headed to Italy soon. I enjoyed your "Mi Chiamo Giovanna" blog and can relate to much of what you said about your childhood with immigrant parents. I think our parents were so anxious to leave the "old country" behind and become full fledged Americans, that we had to get a bit older ourselves to fully appreciate our heritage. I'm so glad you will have this opportunity to live your dream. I will be in the Lucca area for much of the summer.
Thanks Diana for visiting my blog. I know now that I wasn't alone in feeling the way I did about being the daughter of immigrants. But it is always nice when someone like yourself can identify feeling that way too. It's amazing how life changes us and how we come to learn who we really are.
Perhaps we can keep in touch. You can always reach me through my blog or on this site. I can send my personal e-mail as well.
