A big thanks to Andy Pettefer who pointed me in the direction of this great site. It's the most informative AND friendliest travel site i have come across to date. My wife and I fell in love with the Lot et Garonne Dept of S.W France, so much so that we bought some land, had a house built and now rent it out to other Holiday-makers. So if anyone is interested in this part of the world I might be able to help. Having said that we will be taking a sloow drive down to the house in the spring (as opposed to flying as usual). So can anyone help me out with a leisurely route down from Calais with recommended stops en route (including our two pet dogs)
Thanks and congrats to you all for contributing to a great site

Welcome Ray!

How nice that you popped into the chat to say hello. I look forward to hearing more from you and reading about your life in the UK and France.

Hi Kathy
Thanks for the welcome Smile
Had a look at your blog and also "Single and solo in Italy".
Very romantic. I like your style of writing.
I've just started compiling a blog of my own about our trials and tribulations of buying land in France and having a holiday home built there. It's a very basic blog at the mo as i'm something of a newbie with this forum/blog business (and i'm only a little older than you). If you do take a sneaky look at what we've been up to I would appreciate your views about how I might spice it up a bit. Part of the blog was published in a couple of issues of a french property mag, so it couldn't have been so bad. Anyone else reading this is also welcome to throw their "two penneth in"
Speak to you all soon

Welcome, Holiday Ray! Do join us over on the France Forum, which would be the best place to ask about the route down from Calais.
