I am a single mom with 2 girls. I live in the US and have a long term goal of going to Europe for a year. I'm thinking about going in about 3-4 years. My girls are 8 & 6 now and I want to wait until they are a little older. I'm not sure where we will be going yet. Since I have never been overseas I would like to visit several countries while we are there. I have a friend in the airforce who may be stationed in England next year so that will be one of our stops. Any suggestions on where to go with a 11 & 9 year old?
Welcome to Slow Travel! I am close by, in DC. What exciting plans! There is lots of good info on this board, and many people who can help you. I suggest you post in one of the travel forums, maybe under the country that interests you the most.
Another great source for info on moving to Europe (specifically Italy) is www.expatsinitaly.com
Not that I intend to draw your attention specifically to Italy, but we have a number of interesting articles written by our members about travelling in Italy with children. Click here and you will find links to four articles on this topic.
And here you will find a list of suggested readings "for teens" about Paris. I find the list good enough for adults as well!
There is more. Explore our main website www.slowtrav.com where all this information is available.
