I'm planning my first trip to Italy this October!

I'm looking for a homestay with Italian lessons, then maybe a monastery guest house in Florence while I explore the art and architecture.

Do you mean you want to take language lessons at a school, and have the school arrange a home stay so you can be 'immersed' in the language? If yes, check our Italian Language Talk forum for reviews of schools and homestay programs.

We collect Italy hotel reviews on the SlowTrav site. I know there are at least a couple monastery/religious guest house reviews for Florence.
