Hello everyone.
My boyfriend and I have just this month bought a house in the beautiful Monferrato region of Piemonte, and are so excited to be taking the next steps of our Italian dream -our aim is to move out there permanently when we can. We'd love to make new friends out there, any nationality, in the area, so please get in touch....
looking forward to hearing from you.
Jane

Hi Jane - welcome! Smile

What an exciting adventure you are embarking on!

What's your timeframe for moving to Italy permanently?

Cheers,
Christine

Ciao Jane,

Welcome to Piedmont, we are living here since three years and love it.
We live in the small (really small) town Olmo Gentile. Where did you buy your dream house?

Hi, Jane...

there is a small but growing group of people here from the US and European countries who have made this home. Welcome!! You will love it. If natasja and I stop working long enough to look around (we both are kind of workaholic types) we are always amazed at its beauty.

Let us know where you are going to be.

Great to get your replies ladies and have enjoyed looking on your websites. We are looking to move out to Italy within 18 months - lots to do beforehand but there is nothing like an end goal to focus the mind. Am sure it will be a rollercoaster of emotions as we get to grips with tradesmen and the flying back and forwards in-between. The house we have bought needs some work on it, both inside and out, although not as extensive as yours Natasja and Diana. It is a long way off what we would like to end up with but at least we can say it is ours and we can actually stay in it as all amenities are there. Locationwise, we are just up the road from the Winery you mentioned your trip to Diana, at Serralunga - 10 minutes in the car. Our town address is Cerrina Monferrato, however we are in a small hamlet on a hill closer to Gaminella. I have to say, the views are spectacular- I don't ever feel I could get bored of them. The rolling countryside and small villages dotted around, with the Alps in the background make it a welcome change from the view out of our semi-detached place in England.
We're looking forward to exploring more of Piemonte, and would be grateful for any tips. If you've not been to Casale yet, I'd reccommend it. No traffic allowed, lovely old cobbled streets with small shops and coffee bars - a great place to wander and be part of daily life.
catch up again soon
best wishes,
Jane

Jane, there is another member here, Claudia, whose family has a place near to your area. I hope she will come on to say hi. The Serralunga in my blog is a different one, south of the A21, in the Langhe, part of the Barolo group of 11 villages. We sometimes go to your area to buy plants -- it is very beautiful with unbelievable views.

I hope you can enjoy the process Smile It is all part of the joy of this kind of experience. We look forward to having you "add" to the website with your knowledge of your new area. Between Natasja, Claudia, you and I we have a good deal of Piemonte covered!! all the best...

Hello and welcome from me to. While I live in Umbria and not in your area, I can assure you that you will start off with some very special people who have written and welcomed you on this forum. I wish I were closer so we could all get together often. If you come my way, do let me know so we can meet.

With every best wish for your great project.

A very warm Jane,

We're very lucky to have a little house in Le Marche, a region not dissimilar to Piemonte. We have had a wonderful experience with our new neighbours and I'm sure you will also.

The folks on ST talk have been great for offering advice, sharing their experience and being enthusiastic in general! Furthermore, there is a large contingent of people with Italian expertise.

Enjoy,

Peter

Hello again folks.
So nice to have your encouragement and good wishes for our adventure, thanks so much for taking the time to say hello - definately looking forward to keeping in touch and maybe one day meeting up for a glass or two of the fabulous local vino, and to share experiences, in Italy.

Diana, didn't realise there is another place of the same name as the village near us for the wine tasting- will definately need to add that to our list of places to go to ;o).
