I'm Carol, and I am thinking about making a trip to Italy later on in the summer. So far I have been to the Dolomites, the Italian part of Lake Lugano, Milan, Turin, Florence, Pisa, Rimini, Venice, and a few other places.
I love Italy, but I have not been down to the south yet, and it is to my great regret that I have not even made it to Rome yet!
As for me, I live in the north of England, near Leeds.
I am glad to have found this board, because I like nothing better than to chat about travel.
Hello Carol, Welcome. No need to regret that you haven't been south yet. Instead just look forward to it. Of course, once you get to Rome, you won't be satisfied. There is still Puglia and everything inbetween that will demand your attention.

Carol, Welcome to these boards. It's so much fun here and always nice to have a fellow travel enthusiast join in the fun. We are all like you in that no matter how much of Italy (or any country that you fall in love with) one has experienced there is the deep yearning to return, venture further and see more. We all share to some degree the same question, "Where do we want to go on the next visit?" The dilemma comes when you are drawn repeatedly back to a place that you love. You want to explore new places and yet the old beloved towns, villages, cities call your name. Lucky you that you have yet to discover the thrill of Rome and all that is beyond! Glad you found us. Thanks, Deborah and Barb. I am pleased to hear that you both enjoy Italy as well. And thanks for your encouragement to visit Rome. There is so much fantastic architecture and sculpture there, and then there are all the wonders of the Vatican City too.
Another place that is definitely on my list is Perugia.
