Hi everyone,

I found this site a year or so ago when planning my first trip to Italy last March with my mom and sister. What a wealth of information! I was especially appreciative of the personal tidbits that fill in the gaps left by the guidebooks.

On that first trip I, like so many before me, whole heartedly succumbed to the charms of Italy. Now I am throwing fiscal responsibility to the wind and planning another trip in summer 2007 with my hubby and 2 daughters (11 & 17). We are quite beside ourselves with excitement - dreams of Italy will warm us through the upcoming cold and wet N. Atlantic winter! Plus it will be our 20th wedding anniversary in Aug 2007 so I'm looking at the trip as a bit of a second honeymoon, made even more special by sharing it with the kids.

Thanks to everyone for sharing all your trip stories, recommendations and information. No doubt I'll be asking many questions between now and next summer.

Ciao! Anne

Welcome, Anne from down East! We'll be glad to see you active and contributing. The Canadian contingent is growing with new members joining almost daily. A good thing.

Yay! Another Canuck...welcome to Slowtrav, Anne!
You live in such a beautiful part of our country, in spite of the cold wet winters. My home town is twinned with Baddeck, so I've spent many luscious days in and around that area.

An anniversary trip?Wine Gelato Romantic, fun and just plain good for the soul, especially with your kids...we'll help with whatever area you need help with, just ask!

Nova Scotia was one of the best of all my home exchanges. We had a home outside of Halifax, but drove around a bit visiting Cape Breton (some gorgeous scenery there) and PEI.

You haven't lived until you've rafted the incoming tidal bore on the Schubenacadie!

By the way, I'm from Washington, DC.

You used to live in Schubenacadie and never went tidal bore rafting?

Shame on you. It's a blast!
