Just wanted to say how great it is to find a forum dedicated to taking time to discover places in depth rather than just scratching the surface with a whistlestop tour.
So many people nowadays seem to want to pack in too many destinations within too short a space of time - when I look at their proposed itineraries, I wonder if they'll get to see anything other than the inside of a car, bus or train. Is it just so they can say they've "done" Italy, or France, or Spain and cross it off their list? Not for me this life in the fast lane. Travel should be about immersing yourself in a different culture and living like a local for as long as you are there. More power to the slow travellers!!
