Hi, my name is Diana and I wish I had started on this board sooner. My husband and I will be leaving for a two month trip to Italy in just over a week. I'm very impressed with the wealth of information on this board and wish I had started planning this trip sooner. I have definitely cheated myself out of a good part of the pleasure of travel, the planning part.

Any help you can provide at this last minute would be greatly appreciated. Will try to spend as much time on this site as possible, even if I do already have one foot out the door.

We have property in the Bagni di Lucca area and have been there many times.
However, this is our very first trip for this length of time. A major problem for us is that we tend to get too comfortable in our little village.
It is cool there when it is hot everywhere else. We make friends with the locals, get into the Italian swing of things and end up going nowhere....or at least almost nowhere. I have friends in Lucca so we do spend lots of time there but it's time for us to start exploring a bit out of our comfort zone.

Would love to hear your ideas, suggestions and also love to "talk" to others familiar with this area.

Tanti saluti,
Diana

Diana, you should definately make it to the GTG in Assisi then. I will be there and can not wait to meet some of these incredible people that have taught me so much. I did a lot of lurking around the boards myself and only joined recently. I am so glad I did though.

Think about the GTG and let me know if you'll be there. I will probably be there for a couple of days just to soak in the Umbria area.

Giovanna,
I will definitely look for info on the GTG in Assisi. Sounds like a plan to me,
although I am very new to this board. I don't even have a handle on where to post yet.
Giovanna, where will you be in Italy?
Saluti, Diana

Diana and Giovanna ~

Welcome to SlowTravel. Glad to have you on board.

Sounds like you both have some nice trips coming up.

If you're interested in the Assisi GTG, you can find information here.

Diana, I live on the other side of the Schuylkill, so we're almost neighbors! You will really love this site.

Diana, I will be in Molise until I get my Citizenship handled. Once I am legal to move around the country I am looking into different options for Language Immersion Programs. Once I have a decent handle on the language I will think about work.

But I am going to be at the GTG. I am going to be coming in that afternoon and then I will stay for at least one or two nights. I am still looking for a good place to stay for those days.
