Colleen suggested I post here, so I am. I decided the other day that my original boardname - paceaj - was boring. It was convenient because it's the first part of my email address, but I decided something else would be more fun.
I thought that something that suggested where I live would be appropriate, but nothing suitable occurred to me at first (Blue Ridge Bunnie?? - no way! ). Then an idea just popped into my head this morning: the homophonous AppalAnnie. I hope noone associates me with the street character in a "Pocketful of Miracles," though. I'll leave it up to y'all to decipher the geographical connection; several people have done it successfully so far. See hint below.
So, in my new reincarnation, "paceaj" has become "AppalAnnie."
Actually, Kathy, I was never an "Annie," and I really disliked that nickname as a child. When I was searching for a new moniker, though, something about "Apple Annie" sounded familiar. I Googled the name and discovered (or, perhaps, rediscovered) that, among other uses, it represented a character - actually a street beggar - played by Bette Davis in the 1961 movie "Pocketful of Miracles," based on a Damon Runyon story. I thought the sound-alike changed spelling fit our mountain location.
