I travel as much as possible -- all of my adult life to as many places as I could/can afford. I'm now retired (my husband is still working). Our most recent trip was Tuscany where we rented an apartment for a week. I love to blog about our travel, our garden and what we learned when we built a house. Forums are great in my experience. I look forward to participating here.

Our driving loop of Tuscany

Hi and thanks for the welcome.

Our favorite country is Italy. Everytime my husband and I think about where we want to go, it always seems to be Italy. We just love the people and the country. One son is an archaeologist finishing up his MA in London at UCL. He's very handy to have on trips!

Where have I been? Probably not as many places as most the forum.

Let's see, I'm 53 and I celebrated my 21st birthday in Moscow, Russia (then the USSR). That was my first airplane trip and it was my first and only organized tour. We were traveling with UNC-Chapel Hill folks. We entered and exited the country via Helsinki, Finland in the winter time.

Caribbean islands: Dominican Republic, St. Martin, St. Croix, St. John, Turks and Caicos. Resort travel is a bit different. Those trips were for getting away from work and catching up on reading for fun. I've daytripped to other islands.

Middle East: Jordan, Israel (1983)

North Africa: Morocco (1988) -- big driving loop throughout the country when our little archaeologist was almost 4 years old.

Europe and beyond: England (3x), France (2x), Spain (1x), Italy (5x), Greece (1x), Crete (1x)

SOMEONE HACKED MY BLOG! I scrambled to remove the inappropriate content ads and have reported the incident to Google.

Apologies to anyone who visited during that time.

I've had no more problems with the blog. It turns out that many blogs experienced the same ad at the same time, so it wasn't my blog per se. At any rate, being a former programmer, I've fixed everything up more tightly, so there shouldn't be any more problems.
