My husband and I (in our 50s and 60s) love the very slow travel. This website has been very helpful in my various research. Thank you.

I am a tax accountant and work long hours. So we are either home in SF working long hours or traveling somewhere, mainly in Europe. We stay in vacation rentals for the most part.

For our spring 2006 travel, we spent 10+ weeks in France with just a daytrip to Brugge to visit and buy chocolates. For the that trip, we spent one week in Paris for a week (apartment in the 16th thru vrbo.com ), then four weeks in Sarlat in La Bouquerie, a wonderful stone house (rented through yourfriendsinfrance.org ), three weeks in St Remy (house rented through vrbo.com) and finally two weeks in Paris (rental thru Lets Paris) in the 18th. We leased a car for 53 days thru Auto Europe (pickup in Bordeaux, drop off in Avignon).

Right now, I have time to be on the internet because we are spending two weeks in Victoria BC for R&R. I brought my new laptop with me and our rented apartment (the Parlour in Truthc Manor trutchmanor.com ) has DSL and Wifi. Maybe I will be inpired to write some revies or trip report while here.

We plan to spend six weeks in Paris over the Christmas/New Year. We are renting another apartment from Lets Paris.

For our 2007 spring holiday, we are planning to spend 5 weeks in Italy and another 5 weeks in Switzerland. All our vacation rentals have been arranged. This will be our fifth trip to Italy but the first trip to Switzerland. So, I am researching Switzerland - Ticino, Bernese Oberland, Lac Leman just outside Montreux, Pontresina and Appenzell.

And yes, we love to travel, slow travel.

Jing, as a natural slow traveller, you are welcome to Slow Travel. Do indeed take some time and write some reviews and trip reports as you have been in interesting places and I am sure you can bring lots of valuable information to our members on your trips and on your rentals.

By the way, San Francisco is one of our most loved American cities and we have always a great time when there.

N.B.: Re typos: you have always 60 minutes from the time of the initial post to edit and correct it. To do this, click on the middle button at the bottom of the post, just above "Reply". Beyond 60 minutes, if you need to change or correct anything, send us (the Moderators) an alert using the triangle/exclamation mark button. This will prompt a screen allowing you to explain what would you would like to change.

Hello Jing! Welcome to this forum. I am from the Bay Area (Menlo Park) too! I did my first slow trip this year in Europe and loved every minute of it. The folks in this forum are so helpful.
