we will be visiting my son in Makurazaki end of March 2009. He just got there and was talking about some islands south of him I can only find Amami islands but not a lot of info on them in any website. Does anyone know of isalnds to visit south of Japan that included snorkeling and hiking etc. Any info on maybe where to go when we get to Japan...kinda lost on this one and slowtalk.com was a blessing when we visited Italy last year. Thanks!

I've done a bit of googling. It is tough since most of the information is in Japanese. Okinawa which is another option has more information about it.
