We're off for South Africa and Namibia tonight. This trip is a botanical safari for us. It is spring time in the Southern Hemisphere and we are visiting the western cape and Namaqualand to see the veld in bloom. We will be in SA for just about three weeks including rental of a guest cottage in Cape Town for six nights so we can do some slow travel.

Then it is off to Namibia where it will not be slow travel. Blushing. We are doing a self-drive for 8 days with stops at Etosha, Swakopmund along the coast and Sesreim to climb the dunes.

I hope to check in from time to time and update my blog.

See you in 4 weeks!

Marta--I am so jealous! Of all our travels and in spite of our love for Italy, the most memorable and wonderful place we have ever been is Africa. What an experience it is. We're going back in 2 years--when Casey is 10--and already can't wait. Have a wonderful time and I can't wait to hear about it.

Ye, April is autumn in Cape Town, but I feel it is probably one of the best months of the year. The days are often in the low 20's Celsius, the temperature drops nicely in the evening.

I am impressed at your plans to do the two oceans - 56KM I seem to remember, but over wonderful scenary - if you are not too tired to enjoy it.
