I have read every scrap of info on Slow Trav pertaining to South America, and there wasn't a lot, but after I get back, there will be more!
It's been in the 20's and 30's here for about 5 days and no relief for a few more days, so it will be wonderful to arrive in Buenos Aires where it is in the 80's! We will be able to thaw out for a couple of days before we begin our cruise.
I know that this winter storm is taking a terrible toll on many parts of the US. My heart especially goes out to people in California whose crops are in peril. Also to the people of Missouri and OK who are without power due to the ice storms that have wiped out whole networks.
I hope that where ever you live, you are comfortable and warm and out of danger.

I'm looking forward to hearing more about Argentina and seeing your pictures. I hope you set a better example than I did. I completely forgot to do reviews for Chile.
Have a safe and wonderful trip.

I guess I should feel bad that I have seven reviews sitting in my PC from my two week trip to Buenos Aires and I am just to lazy to submit them.
I think they are going to take away my ST privileges soon.
My brother is currently living in Buenos Aires! He LOVES it there. He has fallen in love with Argentina in general...
He is currently dividing his time between North Carolina in the summer and early fall and then when the weather starts to turn, he heads south to Argentina. He craves the warmth and recently told me the weather has been divine there. I bet you're having a grand time.
Hi Marta! Yes, we're back and it was a great trip. However it was a 16 night cruise, with one extra night in Buenos Aires. I'm not sure how helpful my trip report would be. We did hire a guide to meet us at the airport and were busy for two days in Buenos Aires (going to an Estancia, a dinner/tango show and a City Tour) before embarking on our cruise. We stayed at the Claridge Hotel which we enjoyed very much.
We spent one day in Uruguay, visiting a winery.
We spent one day in Puerto Madryn, with a guide and her husband who drove us all over peninsula Valdez where we saw lots of miles of a gravel road culminating in penguins (!) and orcas (!) and huge Elephant Seals and sea lions, so it was worth the drive for us.
The last stop for us in Argentina was Ushuaia where we hired a taxi to take us around to see the beauties of this area. Ushuaia is supposed to be the most southernmost city in the world - but boasts wonderful forests of beech, glaciers, skiing, and fantastic King Crab.
Then we went on to the Chilean Fjords, cities, and finally Valparaiso, the port for Santiago, from which we flew home. (We loved Chile, also!)
I hope this is a bit of help. Please let me know if I can assist you in any way with more information.
Carol
