I will go for 10 days!! July 20-30th. So excited..we are going to Jordan also for 2 days to see Amman and Petra. We were thinking about heading up to Syria also, what do you think?
Am I pushing it? Or should I just spend more time in Israel rather than country hopping...and there is always the stamp in the passport issue.
I think that Israel alone, would be enough. I can see Amman and Petra; I missed visiting Petra on my last trip but I know it's incredible. I think that Petra is at least one full day from wherever you start out in Jordan.
Syria too? You will not only be pushed for time; there may also be a visa problem among the various countries. You will surely have a long border delay, at the very least.
Israel is small, but there is so much to see.

I would agree that three countries in 10 days in the middle east is too much. I just got back from 9 days in Israel and you really can spend the entire 10 days seeing things in Israel and not be bored. Additionally, getting around ( I have found) takes a more time than getting around in the USA, so consider that while you plan your travel times/ connections etc. I agree that the crossings at the borders will take significantly more time than you think.
The Gaza pullout is scheduled for early August and there were demonstrations last week while I was there that closed roads and town. Expect this to increase as the withdrawal date draws closer and plan accordingly for time and alternate routs.
re: Jordan, I've heard the red cliffs of Petra are great, but have not gone. Additionally I've been told that if you have the Israeli stamp in your passport, that traveling to an Arab country (ie: Syria) can be difficult and you can be denied entry.
