We leave next week - blog is still under construction but check back for updates after January 15th!

Itinerary is:

  • fly to Nairobi from Toronto (via Paris/Cairo) overnight

Liz and Richard's 2010 African Adventures

BTW - can everyone see the banner? I think I made it based on my new screen aspect ratio.

    Liz--banner looks good.

I'm in the midst of planning for a safari in December--it'll be our second. Are you taking a safari? If so, what company are you using and where will you be--strictly Kenya or Tanzania, too?

You are in for a very special opportunity --which you know if you've been before.

Hi Jane - we haven't been and are so excited.

We're using Nomad Tanzania (I don't know what happened to my itinerary in my post - but here it is)

    - Fly to Nairobi and overnight - then onto Arusha
    - Pick up by driver/guide and then 4 nights at Plantation Lodge - visits to Crater/Lake Manyara/etc
    - 5 nights in Nomad's Serengeti mobile tents (3 in the Safari Camp; 2 at Nduara Loliondo)
    - then back to Arusha for one night and off to Rwanda for a trek to the Mountain Gorillas.
    - then we fly to Cape Town and have rented a house in Simons Town for 3 weeks
    - then to Namibia where we have rented a 4x4 and will drive vast distances in 3 weeks, ending up on a river cruise in Botswana and our last night in AFrica at Victoria Falls

    Any suggestions are welcome!

If you have time in Vic Falls I would suggest a Lion Walk through African Impact. It is an experience you will never forget and the proceeds also help the re-population of lions in Africa. My husband and I volunteered there a couple of years ago - they have a great program. It is about a 15 minute ride out of town.

    Thanks everyone - I'm like a kid on Christmas Eve - I can't sleep!

Pokey - camel pic (yikes it's huge - I have to reduce it down a bit) was taken at Petra in Jordan - more pics on the blog link under my signature)
