I've finally finished processing and uploading my photos from our recent trip to Brazil's Pantanal. Mostly birds of course, but also quite a few animals (lots of Capybara, and Caiman, an anteater or two, and some other stuff for you non-bird lovers.)
Stunning! The colors are so vibrant on the bird pictures. You always manage to capture “that” special moment so well. I really like them all. The sunset/reflection picture and the one with the horses with the orange mist and big branchy tree in the background. Gorgeous! Brazil does look like it has a lot to offer.
Thanks for sharing. Kathy

But what, no marmots?
No marmots Amy but is that a Capybara in your pocket?
Those jays are GORGEOUS and I only wish I'd gotten a better photo of one, this photo is OK but really doesn't even catch the vibrant colors (it was taken with very little light very early in the morning.)

thanks Kathy, you picked my absolute favorite shot...of ALL the shots I took, that one with the horses is my favorite, maybe because I'd envisioned something like it even before I went (I'd seen other photos with that backlit dust effect.) That's actually dust in the air, not mist...its a very dusty area in dry season!
WOW Janet, those photos are amazing! I love the expressions on the animals...priceless. I always get excited when you post new pictures. I will have to send my niece the website to look at the birds...she is a bird fanatic. thanks for sharing!
Janet, that was dust. Thanks for the correction. What a great effect it made! That was awesome that you had envisioned it. Everything in that photograph was perfect: the tree, the dust effect, the horses and even the time of day (my teacher calls it the “golden hour.”)
Strange as it sounds when I look at a photograph, I also see movement. And in that photo, I thought the dust effect (with the horses) created this gentle motion but in a still shot. Like girasoli, I always enjoy looking at your photos: the details, the facial expressions, the lines, the colors and the stories they tell!
I remember someone once mentioned that you should do a calendar of your birds, which is a great idea. I think you should also publish a book of your wonderful photographs.
Looking forward to your next trip and new collection. Kathy

Actually Kathy, I am working on a book now! One of those self-published things,I'm trying out this new software called BookSmart (www.blurb.com) and its really cool. But its going to be alot of work, so I hope I can get it done by the holidays, I think it will make cool gifts. I also may do a calendar via CafePress, if I have time... Anyway if I ever finish these things I will let everyone know, thanks for the encouragement :-)
Thanks for sharing the link! I'm making my first trip to Brazil at the end of the month, and this just whets my appetite to see and experience new things.
