Anyone have any personal experience renting a vacation apartment in Sydney? Not much listed on VRBO and I'm not sure what equivalent sites are available with lists of Sydney rentals. Specifically looking for a 2-week, high season (this Jan/Feb) 2-bedroom in Darlinghurst. Does Craig's List in Sydney have an audience? Anyone dealt with ozstays.com? Suggestions welcome. Relatives suggested York Apartments but we would rather stay in a more vibrant part of the city.

I've not had any experience looking for vacation rentals in Sydney, but in Australia we use HOLIDAY and not vacation - so if you google something like "holiday rental apartment sydney darlinghurst" you should get loads of hits.

Most places that have a .com.au web address should be okay to deal with. And besides, us Aussies are generally nice, honest people Wink

If I interpret "vibrant" correctly then you should also be looking in Paddington and Kings Cross, which are close by.
I stay with rellies (relatives) in Sydney so I do not know the vacation rental scene.
I have heard of vacation rentals in Leichhardt, which is Sydney's Little Italy. It's a popular dining area, but I don't think there are (m)any night clubs.

You could also try searching on a search engine called http://www.sensis.com.au it is more Australian focused for search results. Another site to try is http://www.realestate.com.au I have used this to book holiday houses for summer (but I only looked in Victoria.) There is a tab at the top of the page you can select holiday rentals. Good luck and remember the sunscreen, Jan/Feb is summer here!

Forget http://www.realestate.com.au I just had a look and the only choices to come up for NSW was Canberra (!?) or Jervis Bay. But give sensis a try, I definately found lots of hits on that site!

This website has rental apartments (short term)in various parts of Sydney including Darlinghurst. The apartments look very good but I don't know what your requirements are in terms of price/bedrooms etc.
http://www.sydneylinks.net
They also have a "last minute" sections where they sell apartments off up to 15 days before the date you require - just add "last_minute.cfm" to the above web site.
