My husband and 2-year old daughter are thinking of going to the northeast of Brazil for 2 weeks in June. We are looking for a beach place that is laid back on one hand but also has a nice town (maybe colonial, good choice of restaurants, nice 'zocalo' to walk around in the evening) and good beach (waves not too big to scare the little one). Pre-baby we were much more adventurous and would have looked for a much more active vacation. Now we just want somewhere nice, beautiful and laid back (definitely no resorts). I've read that Cumbuco near Fortaleza is nice, as well as Caravelas & Abrolhos park south of Salvador. I think I would like to see Salvador and spend maybe 2-3 days in the city but we want to spend most of our time somewhere smaller.
