I just booked my ticket back to Guatemala for later this month. I fell in love with the city of Antigua when I was there in August (and made some wonderful friends) so I'm heading back for a few days in town and then I'm off to Lake Atitlan to check out yoga retreat spaces as I hope to set up some yoga/play retreats down there in the near future. I'll be visiting Villa Sumaya, where a dear friend and fellow teacher does her yoga teacher trainings every Summer and look forward to taking in the town of San Marcos which is supposed to be a wonderful little healing arts/yoga town. I guess you could say this is both a business and pleasure trip.
I've seriously got Guatemala in my blood now. I cannot wait to get back there. I find my time there to be very centering and inspiring. And I so hear my bikini calling my name. The weather is amazing this time of year!
I'll be blogging whilst I'm there and will post any information I come up with to share with fellow travelers.
Kathy - congratulations! I have been wondering how your travel plans were coming - good to know you are headed back to Guatemala soon. And glad to hear you will be blogging while you are away, so we will get to share your experiences.

Marcia, I'll be back in time for our Paso GTG. But yes, we shall have some wine before I go indeed. I leave right after teaching my yoga class the night of the 20th. It's a red eye on Delta for a decent price.
It's in the 80's right now and this is their dry season (fabulous!). I can't wait to get out to the lake as everyone tells me it is a truly magical place and once you've been there it always draws you back...
Yay Guatemala! Have a great trip - I know you will! I almost made it to Lake Atitlan once, but was stopped by a small mudslide. But that was rainy season so you won't have that kind of a problem!
Looking forward to reading about your trip and the places you visit!
David and I had dinner with Kathy last night and got to hear about her trip plans. I think she is going to have some great stories to share over a glass or three of vino in Paso Robles.
We're just about ready to join her on her next adventure. Her enthusiasm is wonderful.
I'm all booked in back at Casa Cristina, my home away from home in Antigua. My hotel for five nights is under $150! And I'm back in my deluxe room with a view. I even got a wee discount for being a returning guest and friend. I LOVE THEM!
Now I'm trying to book my rooms on the lake for a few days. The place I want to stay is something like $15-20 a night and gorgeous. My whole trip including airfare, lodging and food will be around $1000. And I do plan on a few fabulous splurges like dining at Meson Panza Verde which is beautiful and one of the finest restaurants in Guatemala. It is also a lovely place to stay but I far prefer to save my money and stay in my sweet little Casa Cristina.
I can't wait to settle in with my laptop and breakfast at the Rainbow cafe (free wifi) where I get rice, beans, homemade bread, eggs, tomatoes and tea for $2.75. I have it late morning and it gets me through until dinner. It's heaven on a plate, I tell you. I've never had beans that are so fresh and sweet.
Yes, lots to share when I see some of you in Paso Robles.
Marcia, you two are SO joining me there eventually. I think you will just love it. Oh yes...
Yes! I'm leaving on sunday night after I teach my yoga class. I am so ready to return back to the land of the Mayans. And it's about 80 degrees there and Sunny!
I say we live the life we create for ourselves. I'm creating one I love.
Yes, I am blogging and totally digging on my new Macbook as well!
Maria, thanks for that. You're a peach.
Day three here and I'm just up and drinking my second latte at Fernando's caffe here in Antigua (and trying to decide if I'm taking a yoga class in a while). I spent last night out with my new friend from Holland and he and I are having a blast together. I can't tell you how great it is to travel solo. You just open up and let the good stuff find you. Totally brilliant...
I'm off to the lake tomorrow or Friday. I've already connected with friends here, have a massage booked with my friend Deet @ 4.00 and then we're off to dinner. My calender is booking up and I am wishing like mad I could stay longer! I hoping to make it back late March for a longer stay. I have to learn Spanish and this is the place to study.
Thanks to my fellow Slow Peeps for following along!
And a special thanks to Leslie for being my photo editor while I'm on location. Great friends utterly priceless.

Isn't it wonderful that to learn Spanish, one has many choices of wonderful countries to pick from. Just be mindful of the words that are of indigenous origin.
I'm enjoying reading your adventures in beautiful Guatemala. You're going to be enchanted by Lake Atitlan.
