I enjoyed reading about her and George's trip so far.

At my house, it's grey and gloomy outside - hard to imagine weather in the 80's and 90's!!

Is it called synchronicity? Today I was ordering a sweater (on sale) for Steve and one of the colors was "vicuna" - I had never heard of that word, but J Crew is very good at making up weird names for colors. I ordered black.

And now I read in Marta's blog that Vicuna is an animal like an alpaca!!

J Crew Italian wool crewneck on sale - Steve will be wearing this in Rome!!

Really fascinating! Flamingos at such an altitude! I can't wait to see your photos, Marta.

It was interesting what she was saying about the altitude. We live at 7,000 feet and I think we feel the altitude. The highest we have been is 12,000 feet, hiking near Aspen. The hiking was: take one step, take two breaths, take one step. Like you see the Everest climbers. You can really feel the altitude. When you move to Santa Fe, it takes a few months for your body to adjust. And I still always feel better when we go to sea level - I can breathe easier!

Marta should have trained by staying with us in Santa Fe for a few months - then to Chile!!

Can't wait to read more - and see the photos.

Thanks everyone. We're back in dreary cold rainy Seattle. The trip was wonderful but fast. I'm going to sort through 500 digital pictures and post a few soon.
