We have had a wonderful time in Turkey and like everyone who has ever been here, I highly recommend it!

For a 6yo who loves The Odyssey, Trojan War and wants to be an archeologist at the moment, it has been a dream come true. We got to talk with archeologists and advanced degree student interns working on excavations at Ephesus, Troy and Aphrodisia and watch them work.

We heading off to Samos now and more adventures, but I thought I would let our friends here know that we just uploaded blog stories about Knossos, Crete, Rhodes and Turkey's Turquoise coast. The Turkish riviera is spectacularly beautiful and pristine and so much more luxurious than we imagined.

A newspaper interviewed us this morning about our unusual travel life style, but I am not sure when or where that will appear. Stay tuned.

We have stayed a week here near Ephesus in an enchanting place and have grown close to the family that owns it, so it is hard to leave. We will catch them later in Italy and another family ( German & Egyptian) this winter in Egypt at the beach where they homeschool.

It is a small world and life is good. Carpe Diem!!

WT..how small a world it is!we sat on the very same terrace last week, and ate ice cream by the very same fountain in Rhodes old town. What a wonderful place it is,so atmospheric,we though it was a little bit like Dubrovnik too

My husband loved the place as when we entered the first shop selling fabrics etc, he engaged the owner in conversation about the film "Guns Of Navarone" which was shot on location in Rhodes. To his delight the owner told him scenes from the film were done in his shop, out came the video camera and the shop is again recorded for posterity!!! Big Grin the owner told us all the other spots in the old town which appear in the film and we trouped around duly recording them. It was a holiday highlight!

We loved Mykonos and Santorini too......have a wonderful time on Samos, which sadly we did not get time to visit.

That is funny...small world! I did notice we have been to many of the same places...we are just chugging a long a little slower via ferries instead of a cruise boat. Wink

I did not know that Crete and Rhodes were not in Europe ...thought they were Greek Islands. Wink We really enjoyed them and so glad we got to see them.

All the Greek Islands are so different and makes me want to see them all. We have lingered in this part of the world much longer than we had planned. Turkey was mindblowing and we added extra time there too. It seems we are incapable of fast travel. Wink

It is interesting that you compared it to Dubrovnik as we are headed that way after a few more "must sees" in Greece.

Samos is very green and we have a great view of the sea from our pension and a private small beach with traditional boats. We are headed to Mykonos next and looking forward to that and getting back to our motorhome in Satorini.
